Guess and learn terms from the Encyclopaedia Britannica 1911 Edition in a board game format. English Encyclopedia Quiz is a quiz with four skill levels, from a basic level suitable for practicing basic English skills, all the way up to the most difficult level which will be challenging even for a very educated person with a huge vocabulary. Points are awarded for correct answers and hence progress can be monitored. There are thousands of questions to ensure you do not get bored or run out of them.

The texts are derived from the Encyclopaedia Britannica 1911 edition, and hence reflect the world view and knowledge level of that time and place.

It is made for tablets and can be played by 1 to 4 players e.g. when curled up on a sofa or placed between the players on a coffee table. When on a table, the screen may be flipped so that the players on the opposite side of the table more easily can read the questions.

How to play
Choose which color each person would like to play as. Then drag your colored token to the answer you believe is correct. Re-drag to change your mind

When everyone has made their guess, tap the "Show answer" button to reveal the right answer and to award points. Then tap "Next question" to get to the next question.

Points
You get one point for a correct answer. Not using your marker (i.e. not playing the round) adds 0 points. Picking the wrong answer adds 0 points.

First to 20 points wins the round. You can adjust points needed to win, under the "Settings" menu for longer or shorter games.

Flip
The "Flip" button flips the questions for the benefit of players sitting on the opposite side of the table. Tap it again to flip back.

Settings
Under "Settings" you can adjust the text size. You can also adjust the level of difficulty of the questions, to suit different groups of players.

Quirks
There are scanning mistakes and other mistakes in some articles. On the basic level the words are quite easy, but since the explanations for them are drawn from the same encyclopedia as the other levels, they can still be a bit of a challenge for somebody not well versed in English.
